MA, what a dangerous event you avoided. The doctor who prescribed those meds should have warned and advised you on what to do if surgery is required. I shudder to think of the lost lives or crippling effects for those who don't understand this.

We raise goats at the farm and after a couple of years they have to move on to another breeding situation. I believe that this one had a catastrophic leg injury and so we slaughtered him rather than euthanise him. We do this by the book with an extremely sharp knife at the other end of the farm so as not to upset the other animals as much as possible. But we loved his horns so the guys hung the head on the paddock fence to dry. This was during a covid summer when NO ONE was coming out to see us, so that was how it dried, but in the fall we realised that if a school were to come out, it might be upsetting to the children, many of whom are quite small. We had this old very expensive Irish flymask sitting about in the tack room and one of the guys covered the head with it, leaving just the horns visible. This last summer, my niece and sister-in-law were visiting from California and we went to Khan el Khalili where all the arts and crafts are and I bought about 15 of the blue glass evil eye disks to hang around the farm. The guys did the hanging and when I went out to see, this one was remarkable. It's somehow right that Alwan (his name means "Colors") is still protecting his flock.
