The entire election scene was too much to be believed. I’ve seen enough people of diminished capacity in my rather long life to find it believable that so many citizens of what likes to believe it is “the greatest country in the world” could take Trump seriously…and that was before 2016. So when I woke up this morning and opened my computer with some anxiety and this met me first thing, I was shocked until I read the fine print and realised that no one using orange or green colours was running. When I read the caption, I laughed a bit, until I started reading the later news and thinking about it. Having the entire map turning blue was never going to happen, no matter how nice it would feel. The fact that whoever ends up winning the election, it is going to be fairly disastrous for everyone is what I take from it.
We are sitting in my living room at the farm and trying hard to think of what this election will mean. If Harris wins under this close an election, she may face an armed rebellion because DT will surely call for one given his past performance, and all the people with the arms and munition are DT's followers. She will not have the backing, time, or energy to deal with anything else. Will she have the backing of the armed forces? Who knows? If DT wins, his decaying mind and body will be run by his puppeteers, many of whom are not very convinced of his reliabilty. That means four more years of being run by the corporations and the military and not just of the United States. It seems to me that the winner of the election in any case at all will be the Military/Industrial Complex and its allies, who just want that they have inexpensive workers to keep making them money...so the wars in the Middle East will continue because that is where everyone is using the bombs. Meanwhile no one is paying any attention to what the climate is going to hand out next...and THAT is what is going to do in what passes for civilisation these days.
There are some glimmers of light. Montana, Nebraska, and Missouri have all passed laws to protect abortion in their states permanently, or at least most women hope so. But I see little peace ahead in many parts of the US. DT’s puppeteers should be happy to run Vance once the motor in DT’s head runs down. But the US has completely lost its spot as the big boy on the block. What all of this means for people living in my part of the world is definite misery. Netanyahu is already ecstatic at the prospect of playing with Donny for a while. But how long can Israel keep juggling all the wars that Bibi wants to keep going?
It really is too much. Along with earthquakes, floods, fires, and genocides, I think that I should look at the immigration rates from the US to Canada and Mexico perhaps. What I did this morning was to roast a bunch of fresh hot peppers with diced skin of a Meyer Lemon, onions, garlic, ginger, and some pickled green mango that I had in the fridge. I popped it into the blender until smooth and then added a handful of grapes. It’s a very tangy, slightly sweet hot sauce that doesn’t cause any permanent tissue damage. It’s orange in colour.
The outcome was a forgone conclusion. I agree completely with your assessment of continuing wars in the ME, many are getting richer. The Jan 6th rebellion suddenly came to mind, a mad mob from the apocalypse. Yet there were police officers and military people in the mix, who are supposedly to uphold the law. Since this republican control, this is what the US has become? No wonder no one trusts anyone any longer.
